This Is Us After 4 Years of Marriage

Tomorrow is me and Anthony's 4 year wedding anniversary and we're celebrating today because we'll busy with NYFW tomorrow! I can't believe how fast 4 years has flown by! (If you missed our post on our 2 year anniversary read it HERE) Not sure why I didn't do a 3 year anniversary post, I think we lost the day in NYFW craziness last year. If we married each other again, most likely wouldn't be during fashion month LOL.

We started our blog 3 months after getting married, and it's crazy to see how much our lives and our relationship has evolved since that time! I'm more in love with him than ever and would definitely would pick him again if I had the choice :)

To celebrate, I thought it would be fun to give us both answers and see our responses- we weren't allowed to edit each other's answers either, here's 10 questions below of us in a nutshell:

What brought you closer this year?

B:

Learning how to work so closely together yet also keep our romance alive and really continue being the best of friends. It was challenging at first but we’ve learned so much about one another through the process and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

A:

Practicing on how to communicate better. I think once you start to realize that not everyone views the same situation as you do changes your perspective and truly makes you think on how the other person would react to a given situation. Once you get through that barrier, you start to grow closer together and understand how the other person feels and what their needs are.

What is your favorite memory of this year?

B:

Our Europe trip together as a family was my favorite memory- we were all being so weird on the trip and just laughing so much haha it was the only vacation this year where we didn’t work while traveling and it was really good to take a mental break, especially because we work so closely together!

A:

I really enjoy the winter and the kind of trips it brings… #winteriscoming. One of my favorites is taking a family trip to Mammoth, CA. There's just something about being in the snow (obviously inside) next to the fireplace playing board games and eating junk food. It was also the first time Jadyn tried skiing. It was such a fun trip!

If you could do anything different, what would it be?

B:

Not go to bed angry, we first had that pact in the beginning of our marriage and this last year with the craziness of our lives (and that were both pretty stubborn sometimes lol) it seems there were more times where we were annoyed with each other going to bed but wouldn’t talk about it. One of us would always wake up in the middle of the night or early the next morning and apologize, we agreed it always seemed like wasted time not to talk about it in the first place. Always resolve any irritations before bed!

A:

I've said this in a previous post, but really taking the time to enjoy the moments. It's tough when your job and personal life intertwine, but sometimes you need to step back and realize this is a moment you need to soak up with your better-half rather than taking pictures lol

What's one item of clothing your spouse wears that you can't stand?

B:

His workout gear from high school, for some reason he can’t let it go but it’s not his right size lol.

A:

I feel like anything I say, the end result will not be pretty lol. It's not that I can't stand them, but Brittany is 5'10 and I'm 6'1 so when she wears heels, she tends to be taller than me and she definitely has her two-cents to say about it. There's a funny story to go along with this, but I will save that for another post.

What is your spouse's "comfort" food.

B:

Pho or Top-Ramen…basically anything with noodles haha. No matter what time of the day or what the weather is like, he will always eat Pho!

A:

Chips and salsa by far! I don't know how one individual can take out a whole bag and container of salsa in one sitting…but she can do it!

What have you learned from your spouse this year?

B:

Not to stress so much- he’s really such a level headed person, I rarely see him overwhelmed, he really seems handle different areas of his life in such an organized way. It’s really helped me see whats worth stressing about and what's not worth the effort. I think in general I’ll always stress more than him, but he has brought me down a few notches! Sometimes I’m a perfectionist and he’s taught me to let things go that don’t matter in the long run.

A:

To be spontaneous every once in a while! I have a bad habit of trying to schedule everything in my life so I can be proficient and efficient as possible. Brittany will always be the one to steer off course and there has never been a time when I regretted it…only fun memories.

What is your spouse's most irritating habit?

B:

He snores pretty loud, I always have to move his face in the night because he wakes me up.

A:

Not being able to hang up her shower towel or put the toliet paper on the roll. It's been years, yet I have had no success…

Is there any special memory about your spouse that you will never forget?

B:

He’s so thoughtful, whenever I think of his personality in general he’s always thinking of me and Jadyn before himself. He can almost read my mind at times- he’ll come back with a coffee for me after running errands, when I didn’t even ask for one (but of course wanted one). Just little things like that that really make a difference. But if I had to narrow it down to one- the way he proposed was beyond thoughtful, sweet and special but it really is just a great example of how he is all the time- I’m pretty obsessed with him :)

A:

When it comes to humor, Brittany and I are always on the same page. We will always take things to the next level and be in tears…sometimes we would go on for 15-20 minutes just laughing it up creating various scenarios. I feel like being able to laugh and not take life too seriously is key in a marriage. Those are the moments that take the stresses of life away for just a little bit and what you're going to remember when you get older.

What was the first meal your spouse ever cooked for you? Was it good?

B:

It was spaghetti and meatballs at the place he shared with his roommates. I didn't have the heart to tell him I didn't like meatballs because he was soooo proud of the dish. When he used the restroom I put the meatballs down his sink! I still feel bad about that lol!

A:

It was garlic seasoned chicken with (I believe) some type of vegetable or rice. I can't really remember the details because the chicken was so over-seasoned that I felt like I was licking a salt cube. That day on, I knew I had to be the cook in the relationship LOL

Have you ever bought anything and kept the purchase a secret from your spouse?

B:

No! Lol we both share the same accounts and have a budget planning meeting at the beginning of each month. Neither of us would be able to buy something without the other one knowing, it makes it hard when trying to buy a gift for him. haha

A:

The only thing I can think of is like fast food or Hot Cheetos, Brittany is not a fan of either but it's my weakness! I always make sure to purchase with cash…no traceability! jk

This was such a cute post – in fact, as I enter year 5 of my relationship, it really provided great insight on how to really be partners. You two are adorable & even from working with you guys in the instagram course {which I LOVE btw}, the chemistry you have both in business and in life is apparent. You two make a hell of a team! Cheers to year V! x Shannon || http://www.champagneatshannons.com
